Meet our Inventor
Peter Truman
In 1998 our inventor, Peter Truman was working as a senior nurse in his local Mental Health 'in patient' unit. He had first trained as a nurse in the UK back in 1981. After attending university to gain a Bachelors Degree, he returned in 1998 to complete a post graduate diploma in advanced nursing (psych). Because he was already 'hospital' qualified he was granted significant RPL and this freed up some of his university time to study other electives of interest. Having been keen on electronics as a hobby back as a teenager in the UK, Peter decided to study a unit from the Computer Science course. This reignited his interest in technology and prompted him to study further. In 2006 Peter was accepted as an accredited member of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), an achievement of which he is justifiably proud. Peter maintains his Nursing Registration working 1 day per a Clinical Nurse Specialist conducting Psychiatric Assessment in the local emergency department. He spends the rest of his time developing products for a range of industries but with a focus on Proximate and other assistive technologies.
